Poetry

Poetry is the core of inspiration and imagination for all of Melissa's works. Ever since she was a child, Melissa would write countless pieces of poetry, ranging from experimental, narrative, haikus, sonnets, prose, free verse, rhymed, and more. This would later expand into the inclusion of short stories, scripts, films, and more physical works like photography and illustrative art such as drawing, painting and mixed media. Melissa was the official recipient of NYC's Association of Assistant Principal's Award for Excellence in Creative Writing at New Utrecht High School in 2019, and her poetry is published in various creative writing magazines, including New Utrecht High School's "Something Poetic" poetry club magazine which she was President of her senior year at high school, the Junction Journal at Brooklyn College, and Stuck in the Library creative writing magazine at Brooklyn College which she was Vice-President of.
